Flavors of Italy emanate from Carraba’s Italian Grill, Fazoli’s Restaurant, and Garozzo’s Ristorante. Sweet Basil Restaurant, a bastion of romance, specializes in European fare, with more than two dozen wines by the glass. Olive Tree Bistro also rakes in accolades with winning cuisine, tapas, and a monthly wine tasting. Old Chicago West features deep dish Chicago-style pizza and 110 beers from around the world. In Old Towne, Beacon Restaurant is known for breakfast, Ross’ Pump House Diner operates out of a 70-year-old service station, and River City Brewing Co. bills itself as Wichita’s first and only microbrewery. Ted’s Montana Grill on Webb Road provides a turn-of-the-century saloon setting, serving bison and beef prime rib. For south of the border sensations, Taqueria El Paisa Mexican Grill prepares dishes from scratch, and Carlos O’Kelley’s Mexican Café has several locations around town. King’s Buffet offers Chinese, Japanese and American fare including crab legs, oysters, and roast beef, while the elegant Kwan Court is known for fresh Maine lobster, sushi and other Asian specialties. For sweet endings, Sheridan’s Frozen Custard ranks as the essential Wichita ice cream and dessert shop, dipping up dozens of options with some 40 toppings. Chains include Church’s Fried Chicken, Outback Steakhouse, Papa John’s Pizza, and P.F. Chang’s China Bistro.
